Fans Can Finally Restore To In-Person Year-End Festivals, Starting With KBS’s “Gayo Daechukje”
Fans will finally be able to cheer on their favorite artists again in-person at the year-end festivals, starting with KBS‘s Gayo Daechukje.
According to an exclusive report from SPOTV, the 2021 KBS Gayo Daechukje will be held on December 17, 2021 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. Unlike last year, where due to Covid-19, was forced to proceed without a live audience, this year, an audience will be permitted. While the audience will still have to shadow quarantine guidelines, it is a major improvement compared to last year’s audience of zero. KBS has reportedly stated that their preparations will make sure that in-person viewing will be sound for spectators.
The KBS Gayo Daechukje is an annual year-end festival to rejoice the top artists of the year. Last year, due to Covid-19, some artists were unable to appear as scheduled, however things are looking likely to change this year. While there may not be as much screaming as previous years, being able to see the artists’ lightsticks waving and some cheers is sure to take a smile to the artists

Over the past couple years, KBS has moved their song festival forward to mid-December. I’ve got a bone to grab with them when it comes to this adjust. I mean, don’t they know I’ve got a Top 50 Countdown to wrap up?? A pre-Winter Break nap to take??? Spare a thought for us bloggers, KBS!
Despite health restrictions, this year’s festival was held with a live (masked) audience. This gets a big thumbs up from me. The audience’s energy is so important, even if they’re just sitting there silently waving their lights. I’ve missed them during K-pop’s weekly music shows. In fact, my favorite drinking game tonight was watching each audience member’s utter shock, horror and shame whenever they were shown on the screen. It’s hard not to relate!
This year’s KBS festival theme is “With,” which is… vague enough, I imagine. We can already await all these year-end festivities to have similar sincere, uplifting themes. I’d rather see producers bring help the music-focused “Color of K-pop” theme from SBS’s 2012 show. That’s still one of my favorite year-end festivals.
Tonight’s show opened with a super awkward singalong when the trio of hosts sud

With fans eagerly looking forward to the year-end festivals, channels are finally dropping information about the 2021 Gayo festivals. Since the mid-20th century, we have had South Korea hosting several iconic year-end music shows with the help of major broadcasting channels. SBS, MBC and KBS are the three networks that disseminate the major annual festivals where popular artists are invited to perform and celebrate the end of the year and usher in the new one. Fans also love the interactions between their other favorite artists as they get together for extraordinary collaborative stages like Stray Kids, The Boyz and TXT.
The KBS Song Festival aka the KBS Gayo Daechukje of 2021 is already being talked about for its choice of MCs — idol actors from groups like SF9 and Astro — and an explosive performance lineup of veterans and well-liked rookies like Red Velvet and aespa plus distinct stages.
