The pandemic clearly sucks, and it has for more than two years now. But big thanks are long overdue for all the creative types who still managed to provide entertainment during the dark days of COVID quarantine, whether from their living rooms or outside filming with their smartphones.
Staged readings, concerts, quick films and theater pieces all had their Zoom moments in the last couple of years. But two performers turned their homegrown musical revue into a full-on tour.
Like all of us, Emerson Collins and Blake McIver Ewing were stuck at home in those lockdown months. But an opportunity came to the talented duo and real-life couple by way of the Public Theater of San Antonio.

You might remember Blake McIver from his turn as Derek on “Full House” or as Waldo in the 1994 movie “The Little Rascals.” But these days, 28-year-old McIver, formerly McIver Ewing, is functional as a professional go-go dancer.
The buff former infant actor told RumorFix that he came out as gay three years ago and began go-go dancing to help with self-esteem issues.
“I had so much shame about my body,” McIver said. “This was a way to show myself that was trustworthy, sensual and fun.”
“I’m not hiding who I am anymore — not pretending I’m something I’m not,” he continued.
McIver raised enough money in tips to finish his upcoming record, too.
Recently, McIver returned to the screen on the premiere episode of Bravo’s new show “The People’s Couch.”
On the display, McIver reacted to what he saw onscreen, along with a couple other viewers.
