WeHo Pride weekend wraps up with Self-acceptance Parade
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - WeHo Event weekend wrapped up Sunday with a noontime parade through the streets of West Hollywood.
The event included a presentation of honors for Pride icons and allies.
Those honorees were model/activist Laith Ashley, who received the Breakthrough Icon Award; actress Niecy Nash-Betts and wife Jessica Betts, who received the Trailblazer Legend honor; and actress Melissa McCarthy, who was named WeHo Pride's 2023 Ally Icon. "RuPaul's Queenly Race" was famous as this year's Drag Icon.
"Our WeHo Pride Parade Icons embody queer delight and fierce allyship by creating spaces where our group can be famous, whether that's on the red carpet or directly through their art and advocacy," West Hollywood Mayor Sepi Shyne said in a statement. "We're thrilled to celebrate the impact our Icons have in creating a more evolved and accepting world."
Tens of thousands of people showed up Saturday for the annual WeHo Parade festival, billed as one of the largest celebrations of LGBTQ+ pride in the world, but two attendees wound up behind bars.

Thousands expected for annual WeHo Pride weekend festivities
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (CNS) -- Tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on West Hollywood Saturday for the annual WeHo Pride festival, billed as one of the largest celebrations of LGBTQ+ identity in the world.
WeHo Event events officially began Friday with a "Friday Darkness @OUTLOUD" concert at West Hollywood Park featuring Idina Menzel, Jessie Ware, Shangela and Tinashe. OUTLOUD concerts will continue over the weekend, with Grace Jones headlining on Saturday nighttime and Carly Rae Jepsen headlining Sunday night.
The WeHo Pride Street Fair will run from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards, featuring an array of LGBTQ+ community groups and allied organizations.
Saturday's event will also include the Women's Freedom Festival, including performances from "emerging LGBTQ and BIPOC women and neutrois musicians, comedians, poets and activists." The festival will be followed at 6 p.m. by the annual Dyke March.

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 18, 2023) LA Pride won “Best Regional Pride,” by the voters in the Los Angeles Blade’s “Best of LGBTQ LA 2023, Readers’ Choice Awards.” Over 20,000 readers voted on everything from Best Brunch to Best Realtor, but when it came to voting for “Best Pride,” the readers responded favorably to the oldest nonprofit, (established in 1970,) LA Pride.

The 2022 LA Pride Parade left West Hollywood and returned to its roots on Hollywood Blvd. for the first time since 1984. Stepping off at the corner of Hollywood and Cahuenga, over 130 contingents walked, marched, danced, and rolled down Hollywood Blvd., Highland Avenue, and Sunset Blvd. Over 130,000 spectators enjoyed the Parade in-person, and thousands more watched the event live on KABC, LA Pride’s longtime media partner and broadcaster.

WeHo Self-acceptance is the Capital of West Hollywood’s LGBTQ+ Pride celebration.
For decades, West Hollywood has been abode to one of the largest annual Pride celebrations in the world, drawing hundreds of thousands of people each June.

WeHo Pride Weekend will take place from Friday, May 30 through Sunday, June 1 with OUTLOUD at WeHo Pride, the WeHo Pride Street Just, the Women's Independence Festival and Dyke March, WeHo Celebration Parade, and much more!
This year's WeHo Pride Arts Festival will take place from Friday, May 23 through Sunday, May 25 with various events and programming.
Throughout the 40 days from May 22 to June 30, there will be community collective events at various locations.
