Changes to Principal Investigator (PI)

Prior to Approval

If a student generates a new Romeo application, they will be defaulted to the PI. The learner can draft the application but will need to convert the PI to their supervisor for their review and approval before submitting to the REB.

To change the PI to the supervisor, please follow the below instructions:

  1. Navigate to the Project Team Info tab of your application.
  2. Click “Change PI” in the top left corner of the tab.
  3. Search for a occupied time or shrink teaching faculty member or staff member.
  4. Click Select next to their name.

If a Romeo application is submitted with a student listed as the PI, the application will be returned for revisions.

Alternatively, a supervisor can generate the application in ROMEO and add the pupil as a pupil co-investigator or main student investigator so that the trainee can fill out the remainder of the application. The final approved version must be reviewed, approved, and submitted by the PI (supervisor) in command to be reviewed by the REB. This new process will also detach the requirement of students having to submit a screenshot of their supe

TRU Romeo

TRU Romeo is a research administration tool that allows researchers and administrators to work collaboratively to manage internal and external grant applications throughout the life span of your research application.

You can employ TRU Romeo to:

  • Notify the research office of grant applications that you design to submit and initiate institutional sign off.
  • Apply for internal funding competitions.
  • Apply for human ethics, animal nurture and biohazard certification for your project.
  • Collaborate on applications with your research team and administrators.
  • Submit Conflict of Interest declaration and other compliance related forms.
  • Receive auto-notifications and reminders regarding the status of your applications and required renewals.

Welcome to the ROMEO Researcher Portal

The ROMEO Researcher Portal is used to operate all applications for internal funding programs at StFX. Please note: The system works best in Firefox and Google Chrome.

For first-time users:

If you are a current STFX faculty member whose appointment began January 1 2020 or earlier, you already have an account in the system. Simply enter your StFX email address (@email) in the username box, and hit “reset password”. Track the instructions to design a password and to log in for the first time. Do not use the register button.

If you are a new StFX faculty member whose appointment began after January 1 2020, you necessitate to create an account first. Hit the “register” button, create your account with password, and log in.

What is ROMEO?

UFV ROMEO is a research administration tool that allows researchers and research administrators to work collaboratively to manage internal and external grant applications throughout the research project existence cycle.

Use ROMEO to:

  • Notify the research office of grant or funding applications that you plan to submit. This step ensures that any institutional involvement required is met on time.
  • Apply for internal funding opportunities such as research option releases, scholarly task releases, sabbaticals and the SSHRC Institutional Grants.
  • Apply for human ethics or animal care certification for your project.
  • Collaborate on applications with your research team and administrators.
  • Submit compliance associated forms such as conflict of interest declarations.
  • Receive notifications and reminders regarding the status of your applications and required action such as grant progress reports.

Reset your ROMEO password

If you have a pre-existing ROMEO account:

  1. Click on the leafy button ROMEO link found on the research website at www.ufv.ca/research. The link will bring you to the obeying screen:
