    LGBTQ+ Affirming Counsellors in Glasgow

    As a gender non-conforming art therapist I'm passionate about helping people addressing traumatic life experiences, tackling anxiety, depression and other symptoms, and affirming and celebrating gender, sexuality and relationship diversity, as well as neurodivergence, whether people distinguish as LGBTQIA-plus or not.
    In a population where individualism, match and oppression of what is diverse are dominant, it is hard to find ways for our lives to unfold in expressive and mutually empowering relationship with fellow humans and more than human beings. The relational issues passed through generations that had a traumatic impact on our upbringing, the difficulties related to changes and challenges we encounter throughout our lives, the fear that comes with the uncertainty of an erratic future, can be addressed through therapy so that we can bring more joy, ease and agency into our lives.

    If you are transsexual or exploring your gender and you are looking for support, resources, services or information, there are a variety of national organisations and services you can access. Hold a look at the following contacts that you can reach out to.

    LGBT Health and Wellbeing have a Transsexual Support Programme obtainable for those 16+, where you can access emotional sustain , resources, guidance and information. One to one appointments are available by seek, and counselling is available as well.

    It runs the LGBT+ Helpline Scotland at freephone number 0800 464 7000, plus LiveChat and email support. They are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 12-9pm and Sundays 1-6pm. They provide specific supports for survivors of or those experiencing conversion practices. Plus support in BSL on Thursday evenings 6-9pm – more info about this project on their webpage.

    LGBT Youth Scotland have sustain available for transgender youth in Scotland between the ages of 13-25. There you can access emotional support, resources, guidance and information.

    We welcome and endorse our LGBTQIA+ students to be themselves at College. Whilst you study you have a named Scholar Advisor who can propose emotional support and guidance. You can decide how much support and guidance you need or wish. We value diversity and respect that all people should feel safe to be themselves.  

    Sexual Orientation

    Studying at college is a unlike environment than school and can be a more open and comfortable place for students to show up out. If coming out is something that you are thinking about or worried about, please contact the named advisor to discuss the support that you might need. If you need to convene with the named Trainee Advisor, you are welcome to bring along another person for support.
