Today, GLAAD and Georgia Equality released voice messages from lgbtq+ actor Tommy Dorfman and LGBTQ ally and actress Kat Graham which will be sent to LGBTQ voters and allies in Georgia. The messages remind Georgia voters about the runoff election for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, January 5, as good as issues at stake in the runoff election. GLAAD also joined with VoteAmerica and Georgia Equality for a series of write messages to LGBTQ voters in Georgia launched this week and continuing through Election Day.

Actor and LGBTQ activist Tommy Dorfman is a native of Atlanta. They starred in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, Freeform’s Love in the Day of Corona and also appeared in Hulu’s Love, Victor. Previously, they received GLAAD’s Rising Celestial body Award at the GLAAD Gala Atlanta in 2017.

Kat Graham, a resident of Georgia, is a longtime LGBTQ ally who stars in the current Netflix holiday film Operation Christmas Drop and films including Cut Throat City and Emperor. Graham has volunteered with GLAAD in Georgia and hosted several GLAAD events in the state.

Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham joined UNHCF to send a message of love and welcome to LGBTI refugees in the United States. 

Every year on May 17, many countries around the world know an International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Activists and political organizations honor the holiday to raise awareness of the global LGBTI community and the challenges they encounter each day.

The holiday is particularly well-known in Europe, Central America, and South America, as well as in the 69 countries that still prohibit lgbtq+ relationships. 

This year, actor Kat Graham recognized the vital date by sharing a video from the Merged Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The video focuses on LGBTI refugees and the additional social barriers they face during the COVID-19 pandemic. Check out the video below:

GLAAD Newsroom launches guest share series with actor Kat Graham and trans advocate Alissah Brooks

NEW YORK, NY – GLAAD, the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) media lobbying organization, has teamed up with actor Kat Graham (Vampire Diaries) and Atlanta-based transgender advocate and actor Alissah Brooks to launch a new series of guests posts for GLAAD Newsroom that feature interviews with people making an impact on LGBT equality in the American South and beyond. The blog series is part of GLAAD’s Southern Stories initiative, which aims to construct support for equality by elevating the experiences of LGBT people in six of the nation's southern states.

Kat Graham Shares Why She Partnered With GLAAD for Her New Album Long Hot Summer

Get ready to add some new songs to your Pride playlist.

Actress and musician Kat Graham (aka Toro Gato) teamed up with the LGBTQ+ media organization GLAAD for her brand-new album, Long Hot Summer, and she dished all about it on E! News' Daily Pop.

"It is such a fun album about liberation," she told hosts LoniLove and Jai Rodriguez. "I wanted to do something for Pride for many, many years. I wanted to do something that would benefit GLAAD. I've been on the council since like 2009."

In honor of Pride, Graham is donating the album's proceeds to GLAAD, which fights against LGBTQ+ defamation in entertainment and media.

"When I hear the word ‘ally,' I'm like, ‘I'm not like an ally,' love ‘This is our people. If it affects one person, it affects all of us," she said. "I wanted this album to be fun and dance and party and empowering and all about being sexually free and owning who you are and all of those things, but I needed it to have a purpose."
