When do you find out dumbledore is gay

Listen up J.K. Rowling, it’s time to give us Lgbtq+ Dumbledore

If you’ve been on Twitter in the last couple of days, you might have noticed a lot of tweets poking amusing at J.K. Rowling...more than usual, that is.

In a DVD special feature for last year’s clip Crimes of Grindelwald, the second installment in the Harry Potter spin-off franchise Fantastic Beasts, the author noted that characters Dumbledore and Grindelwald had an “incredibly intense” association. “It was ardent, and it was a love relationship,” she said.

While my initial gut instinct is to be grateful for any type of queer representation, the reality is that mentioning it in passing and excluding it from the film does not count as diversity. It’s just a cowardly and lethargic way to build headlines and appease fans.

We’ve known Dumbledore was gay since JKR disclosed it to fans advocate in 2007, despite the fact it’s never addressed in the books. When asked about Dumbledore’s love life, she revealed that as a teen he fell in affectionate with his end friend Grindelwald, who later became a powerful dark wizard in a pre-Voldemort era.

Proofs/Clues of Dumbledore’s homosexuality in ‘Deathly Hallows’

Here I gathered a few quotes that are clues to the reader that Dumbledore was homosexual and was infatuated with Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, that illustrate that it was, indeed, canon. Those are all quotes that I start rapidly to make this post under 5 minutes, I’m quite sure there must be more. Please feel free to include more :)

The boys took to each other at once.”They certainly did. Bathilda shows me a letter, kept by her, that Albus Dumbledore sent Gellert Grindelwald in the dead of night.“Yes, even after they’d spent all day in discussion — both such brilliant youthful boys, they got on like a cauldron on fireI’d sometimes hear an owl tapping at Gellert’s bedroom window, delivering a letter from Albus! An idea would have struck him, and he had to authorize Gellert know immediately!”

However, there can be no disbelief that Dumbledore delayed, for some five years of turmoil, fatalities, and disappearances, his attack upon Gellert Grindelwald. Was it lingering affection for the man or fear of exposure as his once optimal friend that caused Dumbledore to hesitate

Dumbledore's Gay: Does Anyone Care?

Oct. 23, 2007 — -- Harry Potter fans' favorite magical, wand-wielding headmaster is gay, says the series' author, and as it turns out, many bookworms don't love him any less because of it.

Parents around the country told ABCNEWS.com that when their children heard the news that professor Albus Dumbledore — who was also Potter's mentor — was gay, most of them shrugged it off.

Robin Moyher, who writes for the Chicago Mom's Blog, said that her son was not at all upset about the wizard's sexuality.

"So what? It's a reality of life," Moyher's 9-year-old son said upon hearing the news.

Dumbledore was outed by Potter creator J.K. Rowling at an Oct. 19 question and retort session at New York City's Carnegie Hall, where a young fan inquired as to whether the headmaster had ever been in love.

"Dumbledore is male lover, actually," replied Rowling, who went on to clarify that he had once loved Gellert Grindelwand, a fellow wizard, but was then let down when he went to the "dark side."

Grindelwand's downfall, Rowling said, was Dumbledore's "great tragedy."

The third 'Fantastic Beasts' movie finally addresses Dumbledore's sexuality front and center — nearly 15 years after J.K. Rowling first revealed he's gay

In 2007, "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling made a remark that would echo in the franchise's fandom for years to arrive. Speaking at Carnegie Hall that year, she said that she had "always thought of Dumbledore as gay" — and that the relationship between him and his teenage friend Gellert Grindelwald had been romantic.

Since then, Dumbledore's sexuality has only explicitly existed outside of any of the franchise's main properties, and Rowling's words had never been confirmed on screen. She hinted in 2016 that the character's queerness would play a role in the "Fantastic Beasts" films, telling reporters to "watch this space," Day Magazine reported at the time.

Almost fifteen years after Rowling first confirmed Dumbledore's sexuality, it's finally made it to the big screen.
