The Hallmark channel boasts of its unique, family-oriented movies and shows which commemorate love from all walks of animation, including queer people. There are quite a number of Hallmark stars that are proud members of the LGBTQIA community, some of whom you definitely know.
You may grasp Jonathan Bennett as the man-candy and bone of contention from "Mean Girls," and from various Hallmark movies such as "Wedding Of A Lifetime" and "Christmas House." What you might not know is that Bennett is openly gay and even starred in the first queer-led Hallmark movie, "The Holiday Sitter." However, it wasn't always this easy for him as a queer actor in Hollywood. The "Love at First Glance" actor told Out that at the starting of his career, he'd been told to keep his sexuality a secret.
Now, however, he has the freedom to express himself. "Hallmark Channel has created a safe cosmos for me as a queer filmmaker to tell stories, and there's no better place than that when you are a lgbtq+ artist in the industry telling stories." There was a time when same-sex attracted characters, let alone out, gay actors, weren’t part of the Hallmark film landscape, which was established for saccharine projects that predominantly featured white, vertical characters. Thankfully, as the world changed, so did the network and performer Luke Macfarlane is proof of that.

In the movie, Macfarlane plays petty town detective Shawn Caden who reluctantly teams up with a crime series actress named Hadley Warner (Lyndie Greenwood) to figure out why a body fell out of the sky into her backyard. The Hallmark Channel is the ultimate hub for idealistic comedies. However, love comes in all shapes and sizes, so shouldn't rom-coms do the same? This was the question on many fans' minds years ago, and it sparked a debate about the inclusivity and diversity on the network. Since then, Hallmark began a serious propel to become more inclusive with its storylines, and in 2022, "The Christmas House" premiered, giving the network its first-ever feature with a gay couple front-and-center.
