Adam Young's Web Log

When I got out of the Army, I had the choice of moving endorse to Massachusetts or anywhere closer to my last duty station.  Since I was in Hawaii at the time, I could choose from  a vast swatch of the country.  I went on several job interviews, and had a few places I could have moved.  I picked for location as much as for the job:  I moved to San Francisco.

During my transition time from Cadet to Officer, the question of Gays serving in the military was a fiery topic with other people my age.  My perspective was usually voiced as “I think everyone should have the right to give their life for their country.” But really, for me the doubt was academic.  I never knew any one that was openly gay.  I say openly, because many of the gay friends I have from tall school and college didn’t come out until good into the 1990s (Gay Nineties, heh).  I’d met a handful of same-sex attracted men, mostly in the course of activities that got me away from my Rock Bound Highland Home.  It was a part of life I thought I was pleasant with, that fell good with in my philosophy of “live and permit live.”

My comfort with the concept of homosexuality was qu

After high school I moved to Minneapolis and spent the dead of winter in Minnesota productive the graveyard change at UPS. By default, everyone hated me and I hated being there so I moved home, got another dead end employment and wasted a semester and a half at Riverland Community College thinking I could create something of myself (it wasn’t a waste because the college was “bad” but because I couldn’t make myself do the function and eventually got myself onto the academic probation list and thrown out). This is when I started producing music. How it all ended up working out, I’ll never know.

Mid-semester I read a quick story by Ambrose Bierce for one of my required english courses, a story called “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” that had a profound effect on me. It wasn’t until later that I discovered the 1962 French film adaptation that ended up changing my general outlook, my frame of mind, my point of perspective, and my entire life from that moment on. It was a hammer between the eyes and I think of driving my pale beat-up 92’ Caravan to work at Coke with tears in my eyes because of the ironic and clear spiritual comparisons wager

Yeah! Adam is pretty happy isn’t he? His music is very optimistic, beautiful, inspiring…

oh yeah. you meant the other type of gay.

Let me explain something to you. Adam Young is far from gay. Tune in to any song ranging from Lonely Lullaby to Beautiful Mystery. Lonely Lullaby talks about a teen named Ann Marie.

oh Ann Marie believe me, I loved you.

Now does that sound gay to you? No. Adam is far from it. He has had girlfriends before. Review his tweets!

Not that there is anything wrong with being gay. Next moment you insult something, experiment to come up with something that actually is insulting. (or actually… don’t insult someone at all.) Calling someone gay is not an insult.

So you ask me why I like Owl City?

The reason I like Owl Capital is because Adam juvenile has not only created very beautiful and distinct music for me to listen to, but also has inspired me and has given me wish. That is not easily found in music/artists today. He offers incredible meleodies and beautiful song lyrics that are often inspirational and dreamy. Pretty stunning stuff in my view. He has taken away my negitive thoughts and made me the pe

Owl City’s Adam Fresh Tells the Story of His ‘Relationship’ With Taylor Swift

Owl City's Adam Youthful and Taylor Swift have had a "thing" ever since the 'Fireflies' singer professed his feelings for the territory starlet, and she responded with a song for him -- 'Enchanted' -- on her 'Speak Now' album. But what went on behind the scenes? US Magazine caught up with Fresh to chat about the brand unused Owl City album, 'All Things Luminous and Beautiful,' which hit stores on June 14. But what we all really want to know is what happened to Juvenile and Swift's relationship!

We use the word "relationship" loosely, of course. The story goes like this: Boy (Young) falls for girl (Swift) from afar, lady happens to be the world's biggest superstar, and humbly responds to his gentlemanly gestures with a song for him on her record. You realize, no big deal. Young admits that even he was shocked by the 'Love Story' singer's ode to him. "I bought her record at midnight when it came out and I was playing through it top to bottom. I desire the classic adding up the letters in her lyrics. I got to

Owl City is consisted of a man named Adam Young and guess what? He's not a one man band. He has percussionists, keyboardists, back up vocals, a violinist, and a cellist. Probably more. He has multiple albums, Ocean Eyes, Maybe I'm dreaming, All Things Luminous and Beautiful, and the Midsummer Station. Many charge him of being "gay" of "faggy" but they do not realize that music is truly about what the artist thinks, not about "getting depressed and funky and wanting to take a girl's clothes off". Young creates calm, yet feel wonderful music which falls into its own category of Electronic music. All the people who think Owl City is a rippoff of the Postal Service do not realize that the Lady GaGa they adore is a rippoff from Madonna.
