The Epidemic of
Gay LonelinessBy Michael Hobbes

“I used to get so ecstatic when the meth was all gone.”
This is my friend Jeremy.
“When you contain it,” he says, “you have to keep using it. When it’s gone, it’s like, ‘Oh nice, I can go assist to my life now.’ I would stay up all weekend and leave to these sex parties and then feel enjoy shit until Wednesday. About two years ago I switched to cocaine because I could work the next day.”
Jeremy is telling me this from a hospital bed, six stories above Seattle. He won’t tell me the accurate circumstances of the overdose, only that a stranger called an ambulance and he woke up here.
Jeremy is not the partner I was expecting to have this conversation with. Until a few weeks ago, I had no idea he used anything heavier than martinis. He is trim, intelligent, gluten-free, the kind of guy who wears a operate shirt no matter what day of the week it is. The first time we met, three years ago, he asked me if I knew a good place to do CrossFit. Today, when I ask him how the hospital’s been so far, the first thing he says is that there’s no Wi-F
Mother'sDaymay be over for 2015, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't still #CelebrateAllMothers on a daily basis.
Lesbian, same-sex attracted, bisexual and genderqueer (LGBT) maternity firm Butch Baby & Co released the above video last week to cheer different queer women to discuss their experiences with motherhood and family dynamics.
The heartwarming video asks each mother questions like, "What do you yearn to teach your kids?" and "What does being a mom mean to you?" The answers are both inspiring and reassuring for a brighter future for queer families.
Check out the video above. Want to read more about queer families? Test out our Leave Love Define Family series.

“We believe this tour is another step in the right direction that will build bridges of understanding, compassion and empathy.”
The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus is going on tour this decline – prepare yourselves for a very gay October.
If you’ve ever watched the group, you understand they will brighten up the grayest of days and the dullest of sports games. One of the many prides of San Francisco, SFGMC will continue spreading positivity this fall in a place that may need it most – the South.
The group will head out on the Lavender Stylus Tour this October in an endeavor to raise funds and awareness in five states that have sought to legalize bigotry, intolerance and overall detest with anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina: you’re on the list.
These states continue to push an anti-LGBTQ+ legislative agenda, which includes but is most definitely not limited to:
A ban on transgender individuals using restrooms that compare their gender identity
Businesses and individuals having the right to deny services to sa
Well, another year has arrive and gone. But don't be down about it! Tis the season for merriment! Just ask my Aunt Carol. She LOVES Christmas. She's also a paranoid schizophrenic. Did I make this sad? Yes.
But here's something to be happy about! The decade's done! The year is over! And what a year it was for gays. Let's count down the high and lows.
10. The A-List
Love it or hate it - and you hate it - the fact is we finally had the opportunity to make television worse, just like everybody else has for years. It was a profound moment of equal opportunity mixed with a profound moment of embarrassment. But, as one of my friends told me over a 12-pack of Bud Glow Lime recently, "We all agree this show is ridiculous, so why is this the third second we're talking about it in less than an hour?" So, there's that.
9. Chris Colfer and Eric Stonestreet: Nuanced Stereotypes
The first time I saw Glee, I was underwhelmed that the gay traits was a swishy fashionista with a lisp. And when I saw Modern Family, I thought it was a poor preference to depict gay parents as people who dress up their toddler favor Diana Ross. And then I said to myself, "Remember when you had a sen

“This study shows that if you are feeling that kind of visceral reaction to an out-group, ask yourself, ‘Why?'” co-author Richard Ryan, a professor of psychology at the University of Rochester, said in a utterance. “Those intense emotions should serve as a contact to self-reflection.”
The research, published in the April 2012 issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, reveals the nuances of prejudices like homophobia, which can ultimately contain dire consequences. [The 10 Most Destructive Human Behaviors]
